Tristine Glick's 2003 Climb to Fight Breast Cancer

Last summer, I participated in the 2002 Climb to Fight Breast Cancer benefiting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. I raised $4,500 for breast cancer research and reached Mt. Rainier’s summit of 14,411Ft!

I am happy to say that I have joined the 2003 Climb to Fight Breast Cancer and again will be climbing Mt. Rainier. In doing this, I have committed to raising another $4,000 for breast cancer research. This year, my efforts are on a more personal level!

Breast Cancer will present itself to one out of eight women in their lifetime. This past year, I faced the possibility that I could be one of those eight women. After a routine physical exam, my doctor had detected a lump and sent me to have a mammogram. Women are advised to begin routine mammogram screening at age 40. I have now had my first one at age 28. Fortunately, all the test results were clear. I am one of the LUCKY ones!

Having shared my experience, I have learned from friends that they too, in their 20’s and 30’s, have found themselves sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for a mammogram or know someone who has. Cancer knows no age limits. Now is the time to make a difference for tomorrow. I am dedicated to supporting breast cancer research for all women facing the reality of breast cancer today and the hope that the reality of breast cancer will be different in 12 years, when my friends and I are scheduled to begin our yearly routine mammogram screening.

I invite you to join me by making a donation to the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer benefiting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. All donors giving $150 or more will receive a Climb to Fight Breast Cancer T-Shirt, and donors giving $300 or more will receive a Climb T-Shirt and embroidered baseball cap as a token of appreciation for your support.

The Fred Hutchinson is on the forefront of breast cancer research. With your help, and the ongoing work of Hutchinson Center Scientists, we will be one step closer to changing the realities of breast cancer. Thank you for your support!

Warmest Wishes,
Tristine
